What a way to spend a Sunday!

Yesterday was such a fun day! Carolina & I put on our first joint Stamp a Stack: Birthday card class at Hobee's Pruneyard.

We had 13 lovely ladies sign up to make 20 cards with four designs.

Here's a shot of my dear friend Marie's with her completed projects in hand & chatting by the drying table. We used Crystal Effects & other slightly gooey/glittery stuff that needed time & space to dry.

Here's a close up of some of them drying: Cardpile

You've seen one of the cards when I announced the class but, I'll put them all again here...

First, here's the beautiful Crazy for Cupcakes & Pun Fun cards that Carolina designed.

Halloween Decorations...

I had some free time and decided to play w/my Sizzix Bigz XL Pennant Die. Quintin's wanting one for his bday party on Friday but, I've heard it takes a little practice. So, why not create a few Halloween decorations?!? These were very fun to make.

First...Spookybanner a Spooky Banner
*I used the Sticky Cut letters on an extra piece of chipboard to create enough O's and dimension off the Designer Paper.

Paper: Basic Black, Ghostly Greetings
Accessories: Sizzix Bigz XL Pennant Die, Pumpkin Pie Narrow Grosgrain, Sticky Cuts Letters, Dimensionals, Black Chunky Glitter, Piece of chipboard, No Stamps on this one.

Second...Boo Pendant
Boopendants
I used chipboard on this as well to give the Sticky Cut Letters a bit of weight. Used the Horizontal slot punch to create a hole at the top of the B for the ribbon. It's not perfect, as you can see since it won't hang perfectly straight.

Cardstock
: Ghostly Greetings, Basic Black
Accessories: Sticky Cuts Letters, Chunky Black Glitter, Black Brad, Pumpkin Pie Narrow Grosgrain, extra piece of chipboard, Horizontal slot Punch, Sizzix Bigz XL Pennant Die for the scallop circles

Hope you had a lovely Sunday!

Scrappin' & Stampin' Make & Take for Give Me Time Retreats

Last Saturday, I had a great time w/Give Me Time Retreats' group of scrappers. Those ladies are so fun & very dedicated to their craft. Some stay up til all hours of the night...scrappin' the days & nights away.

Thankfully, most take a break to do a Make & Take w/Stampin' Up's latest & greatest. They've asked me over the past two years to simplify my layouts', especially in regards to the number of steps, so that they can still come out w/great pages while getting back to what they came their for...power scrappin.

Here's what I came up with...Cupcakelayout
My cheif time saver was using the Stampin' Around wheel to make our own, cordinating background paper, using the Old Olive Ink Cartridge & Cupcakes wheel. It's sooo cute! Also, you already know one of my favs is the Simple Bday Thanks Stamp (One of the SU Bday stamps on Special in October!) & Top Note Die. So, you could say this layout has all of my favorite elements....for now...Newbies are just arriving, so I'll be posting a new love shortly, for sure ;)

Stamps: Simple Birthday Thanks, Cupcakes Standard Stampin' Around Wheel, Happy Everything
CS/Paper: Brocade Blue, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Real Red
Ink: Old Olive, Basic Grey, Brocade Blue, Real Red
Accessories: Crimper, 1/4" Circle punch, Sizzix Bigz Die Top Note, Small & Large Tag Punches, Striped Red Ribbon, Rich Regals Brads, Chunky Red Glitter, Mono Glue, Dimensionals.

Hope you're having a fantastic Saturday!

P.S. Sorry for the time between posts. I've had a really, really bad cold. I've been calling it Bronchitis, although never got it diagnosed since I've had it so many times, I knew it was time to step up my asthma inhalers & rest as much as possible. Which I did. I slept 5 hours on Tuesday, while the kids were at school, managed through Wednesday, because it was Quintin's 6th bday, and slept as much as I could the other days. Feeling much better & hoping to dive into the World Card Making Day Challenges over on SCS. I'll post my creations as I go, later today. It's a little bit grey today, so what a great excuse to stay in and stamp!

Good enough to eat...

Here's my share for today. It's Quintin's 6th Bday party invite. I love Stampin' Up's new Simple Birthday Thanks Stamp Set. It's so big and yummy, good enough to eat...if only it were real!!

1) Used Retired Romantic Red Glitter on top of Crystal Effects to give it the full look of a ripe & sweet cherry. Let that dry over night since it was a thick layer on the cardstock.

2)Then used a combo of Cutie Pie Designer Series Paper (Retired SU) and Current Summer Picnic which I stamped w/Basic Grey Classic Ink, cut it out & then crimped it by placing it half way in the crimper & rolling to both corners to keep the crimp straight (if you just put the cupcake in the crimper from the edge the crimps will run at a slant.)

3) Stamped the Cupcake top on Shimmer White in Basic Grey. Punched out various pieces of CS in 1/4" circles for the confetti sprinkles. Glued them on w/Mono Glue. Love that fine tip!Quintinsinvites

I'd already ran the Celery through my printer w/all the details on the inside, so it really was pretty simple.

Hope you like it! Wish you could all join the fun for his upcoming special day!

Goody Goodie

Hi Stampin' Friends!
Sorry, I'm still not quite in the groove of daily posts again. Trying but, life gets away from me w/these boys all seeming to need me all the same time. Good thing they're so cute...

Last night, we had a super fun dinner at the Allen's lovely home. The kids have known each other since we were talking about them in "months old."  We're all so close, it's like family! The kids had a blast swimming & running around like banshees while we tried several new wines, awesome burgers & other yummies. We also made new friends in the Wormer family, who have recently relocated nearby. The time flew by and before I knew it..it was too late to start stamping, but, what a great excuse!

Img_0088Look at my darling God daughter, Abby. She's sweet, smart & so pretty! I am continually amazed by her love of critters, big and small. Here's her latest find, proudly showing off a slug. Thank God Kerry is a cool mom to let her have several cages, aquariums, etc. in their house. My poor kids are not as lucky as their mom squeals at just about anything that moves fast...

Thanks for the great night Allens! We love you all!

Now on to my creative shares for today (hopefully there will be more later, too!)

First is a new Goodie Treat box I made using Stampin' Up's Pillow Box that's featured in the Holdiay Mini Catalog (coming out Oct. 1st under Stampin' Up's co-founder, Shelli Gardner's new line of SU exclusive Sizzix Big Shot dies & coordinating supplies.

Spottedpillowtreat_2

I used some DSP from Memory Box Sugar Collection to run through my Big Shot with the Pillow Bigz Die.

Then stamped the Thank You stamp from the Ronald McDonald House Stamp Set ($2 from the purchase of this set goes to RMHC) Say It with Scallops. Punched it w/the Scalloped Square Punch. Added some wide Grosgrain (Retired,) Ivory Taffeta, Small Stitched ribbon, & lots of White Gel pen.

The Second Goodie I have to share with you is something I made about a month ago for the teachers at my boy's elmentary school. Thought I'd posted it but, since I forgot...here it is...
Whaletreat

Jon says I should retake this photo to remove the messy items on my desk but, hopefully you know me well enough by now to know I'm a little messy & late....always :)

So this is w/the Pun Fun Whale stamped in Basic Grey, popped out w/the 1 3/8" circle on Whisper White Cardstock. Colored him in using Warm Grey Copic (less streaking than other pens.) Added Cool Shadow Copic Pen for the waves and used a little of SU's 2-way Glue Pen & Dazzling Diamonds for the water spout & waves. Box was punched out using Accucut's Fry Box die of Blue Bayou (last year's SU In Color) and used Soft Sky double stitched ribbon to float our Williams Whale around the box.  Lastly, added a tag w/We're in this together. I'm pretty sure it's from Gina K.'s sentiments but, need to verify w/Carolina, as it was her stamp & huge help that pulled 50 of these out one night for the staff & PTA board luncheon to welcome us all back to school year a month ago.

Sorry to end this so quick but, Jon just said we're going to be late if I don't move it! We're off to see Ghost Town since Papa B offered to take our kids for a couple hours. Gotta love Sundays!

Happy Stampin' Friends,
Steph

Nolan's Newest Hobby

Sorry, I'm not quite finished any creative projects to share but, thought I'd share some creations from my son. He spent his free time (mostly at night when he was supposed to be sleeping!) learning how to be a Balloon Artist. Even has a creative web group & forums he enjoys reading, like we stampers do w/SCS. It's so cute and shocking that he's 10 1/2 already w/well paying hobbies! (He's already worked several parties for tips.)

Here's Twisty the Clown & some of his creations:Img_0058

A Big Shot Quickie...

Some of you might have already received your Holiday Mini Catalogs. If not, it's on it's way. Starts October 1st (Quintin's bday ;) ONe of the best additions is my new favorite tool...The Sizzix Big Shot and the exclusive SU dies. I got some of my Demo Pre-order today and had about two minutes to throw together a card. Here it is...Quickiesquare
Quickly cut out two Top Notes using the die in Old Olive & wheeled Whisper White (which I had laying around from another project that already had the Jumbo Daisy Dash wheel on it.)

Then two concentric scalloped circles using the Big Shots Bigz Scallop Circles #2 & XL Pennant dies. It was great because I could use scraps & run it through so fast. It's so much easier to run through than the Cuttlebug, which I still love, too but, think the Big Shot does the new SU exclusives..which I LOVE...(so, I'm going to sell my Cuttlebug...if you know anyone who wants to buy one...give me a ping.)

Next used the Eggplant circle from the Pennant flower to rub on a Perfect Day flower in White. Cut it out along the perferations. Finally, popped out a Word Window in Eggplant to put another Rub on, on. Adhered that to the Old Olive Top Note base. Trimmed away the edging of the Whisper White top note, so they'd layer. Finally, layered everything else using tons of Dimensionals in between the layers. Card is at least 1/2" thick.. tee hee... This all sounds like a lot of work but, seriously it took me longer to type this out than it did to create. And it's definitely different for me. Card base is a 4 1/4" square in Barely Banana stamped w/So Saffron Tres' Chic.

Stamp Set: Tres' Chic Background, Daisy Dash Jumbo Wheel
Cardstock: Banana, Eggplant, Amethyst, Whisper White, Old Olive
Ink: Jumbo Celery Cartridge, So Saffron Classic Ink
Accessories: Perfect Day Rub Ons, Flower Brads, Big Shot SU Exclusive Top Note Die, Scallop Circle Bigz Die, Pennant Die, Word Window Punch, Celery Wide Grosgrain, Eggplant Grosgrain, Retired Amethyst

Hope you had a Stamp-tastic day!
Steph
